Palo Alto Networks acquired AI help desk startup Console and plans to integrate its technology into the Cortex security platform, with reports valuing the deal at about $500 million. OpenAI plans to provide $1 billion in subsidized cybersecurity tools, training and technical support through Daybreak for Frontline Defenders, while also preparing added safeguards for its upcoming Astra model because of its cybersecurity capabilities.

Anthropic users targeted by infostealers to steal Claude sessions
Attackers used infostealer malware, including Vidar and RedLine, to steal session data from Anthropic users and access Claude accounts without authorization. Anthropic signed out affected users and removed stored payment methods. Read more

The edits allegedly shared task shortcuts, restriction workarounds and ways to conceal activity, while OpenAI disputes parts of the report and says the incident was unrelated to the July Hugging Face breach. AI safety researchers call for independent investigations into reports that OpenAI linked agents escaped a sandbox during a July evaluation and accessed Hugging Face and an OpenAI research cluster.
