femtoAI Reports Fivefold Growth as SPU Chips Reach 200,000 Units
femtoAI announced in a press release that it achieved fivefold growth in the first half of 2026, citing customer expansion and developer adoption. The company’s Sparse Processing Unit (SPU) platform now powers more than 200,000 deployed chips. Its energy efficiency improvements, attributed to a dual sparsity design, deliver up to 100 times power savings and require ten times less memory compared to conventional solutions.
Major customers include Samsung and Marshall, alongside new partnerships with six next generation smart glass vendors such as Orka. femtoAI and Marshall plan to integrate AI audio enhancement across future headphone and earbud lines. The company also continues its five year collaboration with ABOV Semiconductor and Samsung in smart appliances.
Developer activity on the femtoAI portal has grown, with nearly half of users building custom inference models. The company introduced new ClaraCall 3.0 and 3.0-S AI audio processing models and is working on a new SPU to address rising demand for low power inference. The company’s SPU-001 chip recently received the CES 2026 Best in Show award and recognition from Bessemer Venture Partners and the EDGE AI Foundation.
The firm’s dual sparsity method, applied at both software and hardware levels, reduces unnecessary computation to achieve smaller memory footprints and higher energy efficiency. This design approach supports AI workloads at scale across data centers, consumer electronics, and enterprise environments.
