AMD to Invest Up to $5 Billion in Anthropic Server Deal
AMD will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic as part of a deal for the AI company to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 Series GPUs, according to Data Center Dynamics.
Anthropic plans to deploy the first gigawatt in the first half of 2027. The systems will use AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs with AMD Epyc Venice CPUs and AMD Pensando networking technology in AMD Helios rackscale infrastructure.
AMD said the agreement builds on Anthropic's existing use of AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs. The companies did not disclose where the planned deployment will be located.
The agreement also includes AMD's use of Claude for software development and GPU workload optimization. AMD engineering and product teams are expected to adopt the model more broadly.
