Sortrace raises $800,000 for AI waste analysis

Nov 2, 2026
Stockholm startup Sortrace raised about $800,000 to expand its technology for analyzing household waste as collection vehicles empty bins.

Stockholm startup Sortrace raised about $800,000 in a round led by Almi Invest, according to Tech.eu. Antler, Gorilla Capital and several angel investors also participated.

Sortrace installs cameras on waste collection vehicles and uses computer vision to analyze household waste as bins are emptied. The system converts images into structured data linked to individual bins and collection routes, helping municipalities and waste companies identify incorrect sorting and collection patterns.

The company will use the funding to meet demand from municipalities and apply its technology to other stages of waste management. Sortrace says its analysis protects privacy and stores images within the European Union.
