ServerDome Global starts $10 billion Texas data center campus
ServerDome Global has started construction on a $10 billion data center campus near El Paso, Texas, according to Data Center Dynamics. The planned 350 MW campus could include ten domed buildings across about 700 acres of a 2,000 acre site in Hudspeth County.
The off grid campus will use onsite natural gas generation and a closed loop cooling system designed to reduce water use. Tenants have reportedly committed to the first phase.
ServerDome Global plans to use prefabricated dome shells measuring about 600 feet by 300 feet. The company claims each dome can support around 20 MW, with air and liquid cooling for rack densities of up to 250 kW.
ServerDome is working with investment firm Kaufman & Company; Lonestar Kaufman is a joint venture partner with ServerDome Global in AI infrastructure projects in Texas and Utah. News of the project surfaced after Hudspeth County Judge Joanna E. MacKenzie published an open letter confirming a developer was looking to build in the area, and CEO David J Keegan later apologized for the lack of notice to local residents and officials.
