Georgia State Expands Studiosity AI Writing Tool to 7,000 Students
Georgia State University will expand access to Studiosity's AI writing support tool to 7,000 students under a new contract, the university said in a press release. The expansion follows a fall 2025 pilot involving more than 1,000 students and 17 faculty members.
The tool provides feedback on writing structure, language and analysis through a restricted learning management system environment. The usage pattern is the most concrete finding: more than 80 percent of engagement happened outside standard business hours, peaking at 11 p.m. and on Sundays, and the platform generated more than 1,500 referrals into the university's own writing studio and counselling centre.
The pilot also reported a D, fail or withdraw rate of about 8 percent among students who used the tool, against 38.9 percent among students who did not, in the same courses. Users had an average grade of 3.23, and students who submitted multiple drafts improved by an average of five points.
Those outcome figures should be read carefully. Participation in the pilot was voluntary and there was no control group, so students who chose to use a writing tool were plausibly the students already more likely to pass. The gap describes who opted in as much as what the software did, and it cannot be attributed to the tool on this evidence. A reported 92 percent of students called it easy to use, which is a satisfaction response drawn from more than 3,400 interactions.
