Orange Cyberdefense Gets Early Access to Cyber Version of Mistral Large 4

Oct 31, 2026
Orange Cyberdefense will use a cybersecurity variant of Mistral Large 4 for penetration testing, audits and incident response, run on European infrastructure.

Orange Cyberdefense, which runs security monitoring and incident response for other organizations, is the first European security services firm to become a design partner of Mistral AI, the companies said in an announcement. It gets early access to a variant of Mistral Large 4 optimized for cybersecurity.

Orange Cyberdefense will initially use the model for penetration testing and technical audits, including the exploration of more attack scenarios. It will also test the model for incident investigation and response, such as analyzing traces and reconstructing attacks.

Systems using the model will gradually enter selected services for Orange Cyberdefense customers. Access controls, traceability, model security testing and human oversight will apply, with experts retaining responsibility for critical actions.

The models will run on computing capacity located in Europe. Feedback from Orange Cyberdefense's operational use will help refine the model for cybersecurity tasks.

"Together, we share one goal: giving European organizations a sovereign, trusted AI solution to defend themselves, built and operated in Europe," said Mistral AI cofounder and CTO Timothée Lacroix.
