Türkiye Plans AI Scoring for Open Ended School Tests

Nov 1, 2026
Türkiye plans to use AI to score open ended answers in Turkish, mathematics and science as part of a new school assessment system.

Türkiye's Ministry of National Education plans to use AI to score student responses to open ended questions, according to Daily Sabah. The system will assess middle and high school students in Turkish, mathematics and science through multiple choice and open ended questions.

The plan appears in the 2027 Presidential Annual Program and forms part of the Türkiye Century Education Model. Assessment tools will also measure reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, while middle school students will be evaluated on digital skills learned in information technology and software courses.

The ministry will move its Monitoring and Assessment of Academic Skills study online as e-ABIDE. Conducted every two years, the assessment covers students in the fourth, eighth and 10th grades. The ministry also plans to add learning analytics tools and an AI assistant to its digital education platforms.
