Dropbox plans to acquire cloud storage company Tigris for $350 million, according to TechCrunch. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Dropbox will use Tigris technology to support DBX Agent Cloud, a storage platform for businesses and developers building AI models and agents. The platform will initially offer object storage as a separate product that works with applications built for Amazon S3.

Tigris was founded by former Uber engineers who worked on the company's storage infrastructure. Its platform places data closer to the users and computing resources accessing it across different regions. Dropbox plans to add support for documents, images, audio and video, along with file system features that let AI agents manage files across tasks and sessions.
