First Foundation Labs Partners with Microsoft to Advance AI Reasoning for Life Sciences
First Foundation Labs (1FL), a life sciences AI company founded by Luma Group, announced in a press release a collaboration with Microsoft Corporation to integrate its reasoning platform into Microsoft Discovery, an enterprise AI platform on Azure designed for scientific research and advanced computing.
The partnership aims to extend Microsoft Discovery’s capabilities into clinical and translational domains, enabling continuous intelligence across the drug development process from early discovery through commercialization. 1FL’s AI systems are designed to reason within complex biological and clinical environments, combining data from multiple scientific domains.
According to the announcement, Microsoft Discovery supports life science research teams with tools for knowledge reasoning, hypothesis formulation, and experimental simulation. The collaboration with 1FL will enhance these functions by adding clinical and translational intelligence, supporting more systematic hypothesis generation and development of new therapies.
First Foundation Labs was established from Luma Group’s work in biotechnology investment and research, focusing on building AI systems that navigate the interdependencies of clinical outcomes, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics in life sciences.
