ClearstoneIP Adds AI Review Capability to Clearstone FTO Platform

Jun 2, 2026
ClearstoneIP has launched FirstPass, an AI feature integrated into its Clearstone FTO platform that delivers structured patent analysis directly within the workflow, reducing freedom-to-operate review time by up to 50%.

ClearstoneIP announced in a press release the launch of FirstPass, an AI capability integrated into its Clearstone FTO platform. The new feature delivers AI generated patent analysis within the structured attorney review environment, helping intellectual property teams complete freedom to operate reviews up to 50 percent faster.

FirstPass works directly inside the Clearstone FTO workflow rather than generating outputs externally. It automates prior art analysis, claim assessments, and risk evaluations within the same environment where attorneys document rationale and manage decisions. This integration maintains the structured process required for defensible legal opinions while reducing time spent on manual review.

During beta testing with intellectual property professionals, FirstPass analyzed 50 patent documents in under two minutes and produced claim level analysis, risk ratings, and workflow suggestions. Participants reported that the AI correctly identified the same high risk patents flagged by attorneys, aligning closely with expert judgment.

The Clearstone FTO platform was developed by patent attorneys to centralize freedom to operate review processes across in house counsel, external counsel, and research teams. With FirstPass, ClearstoneIP introduces what it calls workflow native AI to further streamline patent clearance and risk management within a single system.
