CATL and Quinbrook announced in a press release that Phase 2 of the Supernode battery energy storage project in Queensland has begun commercial operation, while Phase 3 has reached financial close on AUD 469 million in debt financing.

Supernode is in Brendale, north of Brisbane, next to the South Pine substation. In the first three phases, the project is planned to reach 780 MW of power capacity and 3074 MWh of storage capacity. Total project financing for Phases 1, 2, and 3 is about AUD 1.2 billion.

CATL supplied EnerC Plus systems for Phases 1 and 2 and will supply TENER-S systems for Phase 3. The company also has a long term service agreement covering condition monitoring, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

CATL and Quinbrook are also working on EnerQB, a battery storage system with a storage duration of eight hours, for possible future Supernode phases.
