Apple Seeks Injunction Against OpenAI in Trade Secret Case

Apple Inc. has asked a U.S. judge for a preliminary injunction against OpenAI, expanding its trade secret lawsuit over alleged confidential data taken by former employees, Reuters reports.

Apple asked the court to bar OpenAI and former Apple employees Chang Liu and Tang Yew Tan from accessing, acquiring, using, or disclosing alleged confidential information. The case is filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Apple also requested expedited discovery, including documents related to alleged access to its proprietary and trade secret information. It asked for depositions from Liu, Tan, OpenAI employee Yu Ting Peng, another unnamed OpenAI employee who previously worked at Apple, and corporate representatives of OpenAI and io Products.

OpenAI said in a blog post that Apple’s request is based on false information and is unnecessary because it does not have or want Apple trade secrets.
