Apple and OpenAI Trade Secret Trial Scheduled for July 2027
Apple and OpenAI will go to trial on July 19, 2027, over Apple's trade secret claims, according to AppleInsider. US District Judge Edward Davila set the trial to begin at 9 a.m.
Apple filed the lawsuit in July 2026, alleging that former employees Tang Tan and Chang Liu took confidential information to OpenAI. OpenAI disputes the claims and has questioned whether Apple adequately protected the information it describes as trade secrets.
The schedule also requires the lead attorneys to meet by June 1 to discuss a possible settlement. Such meetings are a standard procedural step and do not indicate that either company plans to settle.
