OpenAI Parts Ways With Three Safety Researchers
OpenAI parted ways with three safety researchers who allegedly shared confidential information with an outside AI safety organization, TechCrunch reports, citing The Wall Street Journal. An OpenAI spokesperson said an internal investigation found the researchers accessed and handled sensitive information in violation of company policies.
The report did not identify the researchers, the outside organization, or the information involved. It is also unclear whether the researchers raised concerns through OpenAI's internal reporting channels before allegedly sharing information externally.
OpenAI previously dismissed researchers Leopold Aschenbrenner and Pavel Izmailov in 2024 over alleged information leaks.
