Stripe to Buy OpenRouter for More Than $7 Billion
Stripe has finalized an agreement to acquire OpenRouter for more than $7 billion, according to Bloomberg.
OpenRouter, founded in 2023, gives developers access to hundreds of AI models and helps them switch between providers based on task needs and price. In May, the company said it served 8 million developers and provided access to more than 400 AI models.
The final acquisition price could still change. Stripe said it does not comment on rumors or speculation, and OpenRouter declined to comment.
OpenRouter has raised more than $150 million in capital. Its backers include CapitalG, Andreessen Horowitz, and Menlo Ventures.
