Apple Cuts Daily AI Budget for Some Employees

Nov 4, 2026
Apple reduced the daily AI spending allowance for some engineers from $300 to $200 and may impose further cuts.

Apple Inc. reduced the daily AI spending allowance for some engineers from $300 to $200 in October, Reuters reports, citing Bloomberg. The company is considering lowering the limit to $100 for some engineering teams.

Some groups outside engineering already have a $100 daily cap, which could fall to $25. Employees who need more access to AI tools would be able to seek exemptions from senior executives, according to the report.

The budgets cover tokens processed by AI models including OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini. Bloomberg also recently reported that Goldman Sachs restricted access to some AI coding tools. Apple did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
