Danish Pension Fund Plans to Buy Anthropic Shares in IPO
Denmark's $25 billion AkademikerPension plans to buy shares in Anthropic through its initial public offering, Benzinga reports, citing a Bloomberg interview with the fund's chief investment officer. The pension fund intends to include Anthropic in its passive holdings, while any purchase for its actively managed portfolio will depend on the valuation.
Chief Investment Officer Anders Schelde said Anthropic's governance and safety commitments make it more acceptable to the fund than SpaceX, which AkademikerPension excludes from its passive and active funds. Earlier this year he said Elon Musk's control of SpaceX "created a catastrophic governance structure."
Anthropic's seven cofounders hold significant voting power through Founder LLC. An independent Long Term Benefit Trust can elect and remove a majority of the company's board. Schelde said the founders' majority control is not ideal, but called the fund "flexible" and the matter a "process."
