Project Liberty and Partners Launch Pro-Human AI Coalition

More than 50 organizations have formed the Pro-Human AI Coalition to coordinate AI policy, research and public engagement.

Project Liberty launched the Pro-Human AI Coalition, a global initiative of more than 50 organizations working to keep AI under human control and ensure its benefits are broadly shared, it said on 15 September. Project Liberty, the Future of Life Institute and Ergo Impact cofounded the independent nonprofit, with Mila and Omidyar Network on its steering committee.

The coalition provides members with shared services including news aggregation, public opinion research, ecosystem mapping and event coordination, and is supporting 14 strategic field building projects. Its workstreams cover the Pro-Human AI Stack, policy, middle powers collaboration, narrative intelligence, and market shaping and economic impact.

The coalition says its members have enacted bipartisan AI legislation in Utah, California, Ohio, Connecticut and South Dakota, with further bills advancing in New York, Virginia and elsewhere. The coalition is also preparing proposals for the Geneva AI Summit in June 2027, covering data portability, interoperability, AI agent transparency, child and teen safety, privacy, creator protections, procurement standards, developer liability and anti lock in enforcement. The coalition was announced at the Pro-Human Assembly, which it says more than 400 policymakers, cultural leaders and advocates attended.
