OpenAI and AMD Partner for 6 Gigawatt GPU Deployment

OpenAI has announced a strategic partnership with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) to deploy 6 gigawatts of AMD GPUs, as stated in a press release. This multi-year agreement will begin with the deployment of 1 gigawatt of AMD Instinct MI450 Series GPUs in the second half of 2026.
The collaboration aims to enhance OpenAI's AI infrastructure by leveraging AMD's high-performance computing systems. The partnership includes a warrant for OpenAI to acquire up to 160 million shares of AMD, contingent on achieving specific milestones, including AMD's stock price targets and OpenAI's technical and commercial achievements.
This agreement is expected to generate significant revenue for AMD while accelerating OpenAI's AI infrastructure development. The partnership underscores the growing demand for advanced AI capabilities and the strategic alignment between the two companies to meet these needs.
