OpenAI Puts September Annualized Revenue at Nearly $50 Billion
OpenAI told investors that September annualized revenue was almost $50 billion, below an earlier indication that the figure was approaching $70 billion, Reuters reports.
The discrepancy mainly resulted from an attempt to compare OpenAI directly with Anthropic. OpenAI excludes revenue from sales through cloud partners such as AWS and Google Cloud, while Anthropic includes such sales.
OpenAI began 2026 with annualized revenue of $20 billion, compared with $6 billion in 2024. Annualized revenue often multiplies one month of sales by 12 and may not reflect full year revenue.
