O-RAN Alliance Unveils Digital Twin Platform for AI and Open RAN Research

The O-RAN ALLIANCE has concluded its seed funding initiative, resulting in an evolved Digital Twin platform for AI and Open RAN research, announced in a press release.

The O-RAN ALLIANCE has concluded its seed funding initiative, resulting in an evolved Digital Twin platform for AI and Open RAN research, announced in a press release. This initiative, launched in November 2023, aimed to support the development of next-generation open Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure.

The evolved O-RAN Digital Twin platform, developed in collaboration with the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things at Northeastern University, allows researchers to deploy O-RAN-based networks in a few clicks. It facilitates data collection, training, and testing for RIC-based xApps and rApps, and supports future development of dApps for real-time network control.

The platform is designed to accelerate innovation at the intersection of AI, open RAN, and network optimization, providing a significant boost to the research community. This development is expected to play a crucial role in the continuous validation of open-source protocol stacks and the advancement of intelligent and dynamic network control solutions.
