EU Adds Six New AI Factories Across Member States
The European Union will establish six new artificial intelligence (AI) Factories in Czechia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and Spain, according to the European Commission. This expansion brings the total number of AI Factories to 19 across 16 member states.
The initiative is supported by more than €500 million in joint funding from the EU and participating countries. Each facility will provide startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and industry with direct access to AI-optimised supercomputers, technical expertise, and tailored support for developing and deploying advanced AI solutions.
The new sites are part of the EuroHPC AI Factories and Antennas initiative, which has received a total commitment of over €2.6 billion. The Commission plans to announce additional AI Factory Antennas soon to offer national AI communities secure remote access to supercomputing resources.
This rollout supports the EU’s AI Continent Action Plan and complements ongoing investments in AI Gigafactories and other large-scale infrastructure aimed at strengthening Europe’s position in artificial intelligence development.
