Intel Invests €5 Billion to Expand Semiconductor Manufacturing in Ireland

July 14, 2026
Intel announced a €5 billion investment to expand its Leixlip campus in Ireland, increasing capacity for Xeon processors built on the Intel 3 node and supporting Europe's semiconductor supply chain.

Intel Corporation announced in a press release a €5 billion investment to expand its manufacturing operations at the Leixlip campus in Ireland. The project marks the next phase of capacity expansion at the site and will support production of Intel Xeon 6 and next generation Xeon processors built on the Intel 3 process technology.

The expansion includes upgrades to existing fabrication facilities and installation of advanced manufacturing equipment. Key infrastructure improvements will extend the automated track system, allowing different modules across the campus to operate as a unified production environment. The capital expenditure program began earlier in 2026 and aims to engage specialized tradespeople and create new full time technology jobs.

Intel stated that this investment will help strengthen Europe's semiconductor supply chain by expanding production capacity within the European Union. Since opening operations in Ireland in 1989, the company has invested over €30 billion in the country, with the Leixlip site employing nearly 4,900 people.

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and IDA Ireland CEO Michael Lohan welcomed the project, citing its importance in sustaining Ireland's role as a hub for advanced semiconductor manufacturing and a contributor to European competitiveness.
