Envision says 800V DC power system is live at its Galaxy AI data center
Envision Energy says it has made what it calls the world's first commercial deployment of an integrated 800 volt direct current power system in a large scale AI data center, according to a press release. The system is powering live computing workloads at Envision's Galaxy AI data center campus in Ulanqab, China, from grid input to the server racks.
The system converts 10 kV medium voltage alternating current into an 800 volt direct current bus. It combines solid state transformers, battery storage and equipment that adjusts voltage for computing hardware. The Dubhe Controller uses the Dubhe Energy Foundation Model to coordinate the transformers and batteries as computing loads change.
Envision says the battery storage provides second scale power support and minute scale backup. The Galaxy campus began operations in August 2026 and, with a planned capacity of 3 GW, is designed to support up to one million AI accelerators at full build out.
