DIGITIMES Examines 800 VDC Power for AI Data Centers

Oct 8, 2026
A DIGITIMES Intelligence report examines the shift toward 800 VDC power distribution as AI racks require more electricity. It also assesses the roles of gallium nitride and silicon carbide components.

DIGITIMES said in a press release that a new Intelligence report examines the emerging use of 800 VDC power distribution in AI data centers. The report covers how rising rack power requirements affect conversion efficiency, power density, system size and thermal management.

The shift to higher voltage direct current changes how electricity moves from the grid to GPUs and other accelerators. It also affects server systems, power conversion equipment and semiconductor components throughout the power delivery chain.

The report assesses the roles of gallium nitride and silicon carbide devices at different voltage, switching frequency and power density levels. It also examines supplier relationships with server manufacturers, system design participation and supply stability.
