Enigmata Raises $6.5 Million for Encrypted AI Data Technology
Enigmata emerged from stealth with $6.5 million in seed funding led by Blockchange Ventures, the company announced in a press release. Founded in 2024, Enigmata is commercializing Cipher, a patent pending cryptographic technology it says lets AI systems train, search and analyze data while it remains encrypted.
Cipher converts records, documents and datasets into an encrypted form that AI, analytics and search tools can process on existing enterprise hardware. Enigmata says its internal tests found that models trained on protected data matched the accuracy of models trained on raw data and completed training 8% to 10% faster. Those tests are the company's own and no methodology is published with them.
Enigmata also says Cipher supports removing individual records without retraining a model from scratch, which it presents as a way to handle data deletion requests. It is offering Cipher to selected enterprise design partners for uses including model training, semantic search, analytics and AI agents, with banks, insurers, health systems and publishers named as target customers.
