Zed Secures $32M Series B Funding Led by Sequoia Capital
Zed has announced a $32 million Series B funding round led by Sequoia Capital, bringing its total funding to over $42 million. announced on their website, this investment will support Zed's vision of transforming collaborative coding by integrating a new operation-based version control system called DeltaDB.
Zed has been developing what it claims to be the world's fastest integrated development environment (IDE) over the past four years. The new funding will enable the company to expand its platform to include DeltaDB, which aims to enhance real-time collaboration by tracking code changes at an edit-level granularity. This system is designed to work alongside Git, providing a more dynamic and continuous coding experience.
DeltaDB uses conflict-free replicated data types (CRDTs) to synchronize changes in real-time, allowing developers and AI agents to collaborate more effectively. Zed plans to open-source DeltaDB while offering an optional paid service, furthering its commitment to improving the collaborative coding landscape.
