XELA Robotics Expands in US with Plug and Play Investment and New Sensor Upgrades

XELA Robotics has announced new sensor capabilities and a strategic investment from Plug and Play, according to a press release. The company is expanding its presence in the United States with enhancements to its uSkin tactile sensor line and plans to showcase the technology at upcoming events in Boston and Vienna.

The two new capabilities include magnetic interference compensation and support for CAN FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data Rate). The magnetic interference compensation feature eliminates the effects of strong magnets and nearby ferromagnetic materials, improving performance for robotic handling of metal components. The CAN FD upgrade allows more sensor modules to operate on the same data line without loss of frequency, providing faster data transfer rates up to 8 Mbps and supporting larger payloads.

The CAN FD enhanced sensors are available for order with deliveries beginning in May 2026. The optional magnetic interference compensation feature will be released in the third quarter of 2026. XELA Robotics will present both technologies at the Robotics Summit and Expo in Boston on May 27–28 and at ICRA 2026 in Vienna from June 1–5.
