Innoviz Expands LiDAR Offerings to Defense and Homeland Security
Innoviz Technologies has entered the defense and homeland security markets with its InnovizSMART and InnovizTwo Ultra Long Range LiDAR sensors, announced in a press release. The company aims to bring its automotive grade 3D perception technology to applications such as perimeter security, mapping, and drone detection.
InnovizSMART offers detection at distances up to 450 meters, while InnovizTwo Ultra Long Range extends that reach to one kilometer. Both models feature compact designs and Power over Ethernet connectivity for easier deployment on existing infrastructure. The sensors are built to handle dust, debris, and extreme temperatures, matching the requirements of defense and security operations.
The company stated that its LiDAR systems can support mission planning, terrain mapping, and live situational awareness by generating high resolution 3D point clouds. These capabilities enable continuous environmental sensing for systems that depend on precise real time perception.
According to Innoviz, the InnovizSMART units are available now, and initial samples of the InnovizTwo Ultra Long Range have already been delivered to customers.
