Axon Invests $1.2 Billion in Skydio
Axon will invest another $1.2 billion in Skydio and become its exclusive public safety distributor in the United States and Canada, the company said in a press release. The transaction values Skydio at $5.2 billion before the investment and will add about 20% to Axon's fully diluted ownership in the drone maker.
The investment combines cash and Axon stock. It includes new capital for Skydio and purchases of shares from existing shareholders. The transactions are expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary conditions.
Skydio serves more than 1,500 public safety customers. Its autonomous drones support Axon's Drone as First Responder program, which lets agencies send drones to emergency calls before or alongside officers.
