Unisys Survey Shows Confidence in AI and Cloud Foundations Outpacing Business Results

July 21, 2026
A new global report from Unisys finds that while 90% of organizations have strong AI and cloud foundations, few are translating that confidence into measurable business performance. Nearly half reported cybersecurity breaches, and adoption of agentic AI remains limited despite wide recognition of its importance.

Unisys announced in a press release the results of its 2026 AI and Cloud Insights Report, which surveyed 1,000 senior IT and business decision-makers across the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. The study found that 90% of organizations believe they have the right architecture to support large scale, data driven decision-making, yet only 65% report exceeding operational efficiency expectations.

The findings indicate a growing disconnect between technical readiness and business outcomes. While confidence in AI and cloud capabilities continues to climb, only 42% of business leaders view cloud and IT as profit centers. Most organizations continue to prioritize technical modernization and enabling automation over tangible metrics such as reducing costs or improving customer experience.

Cybersecurity remains a significant concern. Nearly half of respondents (49%) reported experiencing a cybersecurity breach in the past year, nearly triple the prior period. Despite these challenges, 96% said their cloud security practices enhance their ability to adopt new technologies faster.

Interest in agentic AI is widespread, with 75% of organizations identifying it as essential for managing cloud environments. However, only 23% have begun scaling such solutions across their operations. The majority remain in early testing phases, focusing on identifying use cases, upskilling teams, and securing executive support before wider deployment.
