Trener Robotics Raises $32M Series A to Expand Industrial AI Platform

Norway- and US-based Trener Robotics has raised $32 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the development of its industrial AI automation platform, announced in a press release. The round was co-led by Engine Ventures and IAG Capital Partners, with participation from strategic investors including Cadence and Geodesic Capital through Nikon’s NFocus Fund.

The funding will support the company’s T-Labs research, skill training, talent acquisition, and expansion of market and partner networks. Trener Robotics’ platform, Acteris, enables users to program industrial robots through natural language rather than complex coding. The system converts conversational input into executable automation and adapts to changing parts and environments in real time.

Acteris integrates with leading robot brands such as ABB, Universal Robots, and FANUC. It provides features like visual part identification, adaptive motion optimization, collision avoidance, and real-time production monitoring. The company describes Acteris as a software-defined control system for robots, allowing manufacturers to deploy intelligent automation on existing equipment.

Founded in 2024 by CEO Dr. Asad Tirmizi and CTO Dr. Lars Tingelstad, Trener Robotics operates from San Francisco and Trondheim. Its team includes experts from robotics and technology firms such as Google, KUKA, ABB, and TikTok. The company previously won the Machine Tool Innovation Award at EMO Hannover for its approach to AI-driven robotic control.
