SimpleDocs Acquires Law Insider to Expand AI Contract Automation
AI contract automation company SimpleDocs has acquired Law Insider, which hosts more than 5 million contracts and 20 million clauses across over 50 languages, according to LawNext. The deal unites SimpleDocs’ AI contract drafting and review tools with Law Insider’s extensive database of legal precedents.
Law Insider’s Chief Legal Officer, Electra Japonas, will join the combined company’s leadership team, overseeing its legal engineering function. This group will design configurable playbooks and workflows that support automated contract review and redlining. The merged platform will operate in both a web-based drafting environment and a Microsoft Word add-in, allowing users to benchmark contract language against market standards and identify missing or non-standard clauses.
SimpleDocs plans to integrate Law Insider’s data to improve precision in contract analysis, enabling its AI to automatically flag unusual terms and suggest edits. Features developed through this merger will begin rolling out in the coming weeks, with advanced benchmarking capabilities expected later this quarter. Law Insider’s website and database will remain publicly accessible, offering optional AI-powered drafting and review tools through SimpleDocs.
