Promptfoo Secures $18.4M to Enhance AI Security
Promptfoo has raised $18.4 million in a Series A funding round led by Insight Partners, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, announced on their website. Founded in 2024, Promptfoo provides an open-source AI red-teaming and security testing framework that addresses vulnerabilities in AI systems, particularly those related to large language models (LLMs).
The company has quickly gained traction, with over 125,000 developers using its open-source tools and more than 30 Fortune 500 companies employing its platform to secure AI deployments. Promptfoo's platform integrates automated vulnerability detection and remediation into the software development process, helping organizations protect critical data and brand reputation.
Promptfoo's CEO, Ian Webster, and CTO, Michael D'Angelo, bring extensive experience in AI and machine learning, having previously worked at companies like Discord and SmileID. The funding will support Promptfoo's efforts to build a comprehensive AI security stack, addressing the growing complexity and security challenges of AI systems.
