Perplexity AI has launched 'Perplexity for Government,' a secure version of its AI-powered search engine tailored for federal employees. According to FedScoop, this new offering is designed to enhance security for federal workers accessing the platform from approved government locations.

The platform automatically detects federal networks and applies protections, including blocking data retention, ensuring that sensitive government information is not exposed. Federal employees using a government network or email address will gain access to enterprise-level security and top AI models from providers such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Claude, and Perplexity's own Sonar model.

Perplexity's initiative aligns with federal guidance encouraging AI adoption for research and workflow support. The company emphasizes that no subscription is required to access these protections, and the security settings are applied by default for government users. Additionally, Perplexity is in discussions with the General Services Administration to formalize its product offerings in the federal market.
