Nationwide Partners with Chrp for AI-Powered Home Inspection Surveys
Nationwide has partnered with Chrp, an AI-driven home risk platform, to modernize the home inspection process for policyholders. The collaboration introduces a smartphone-based system that helps homeowners identify potential risks inside their properties before they result in costly damage.
The new program allows selected policyholders to complete a guided photo survey using their mobile device. Chrp’s AI models, trained on more than 400 known failure points, analyze each image to detect issues such as corrosion, outdated electrical panels, or fire hazards. After the virtual inspection, homeowners receive a report outlining specific concerns and recommended repairs.
If significant risks are detected, cases are referred to Nationwide’s inspection team for further review. The service is available in all states where Nationwide offers homeowners policies and will be extended to policyholders undergoing renewal inspections.
Data shared with the announcement highlights the scope of potential home risks, noting that 70% of non-catastrophic homeowners claims originate inside the home. Water damage, in particular, is cited as a leading cause of loss, with many incidents traced to minor plumbing components that could be detected early through the AI survey system.
