Morgan State and Google Public Sector Build AI Research Campus

Morgan State University will use Google Cloud and NVIDIA computing resources to expand research in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, climate science, health sciences and urban mobility.

In a press release, Morgan State University and Google Public Sector announce a collaboration to build an AI research campus. The university will receive access to high performance GPU computing through the Google Public Sector Program for Accelerated Research.

Researchers will use Google Cloud platforms and NVIDIA infrastructure for work involving large language models, cybersecurity, climate and environmental forecasting, health sciences, and traffic and urban mobility in Baltimore. Morgan State's Obsidian AI platform will support research and campus projects while keeping governance, security and accountability under university control.

Morgan State will also create a Google focused Center of Excellence for cloud computing, AI adoption, workforce development and technical training. Students will receive access to professional training and industry credentials, while faculty may use Google for Startups programs to support commercialization.

The university plans to use Google SecOps and Mandiant tools for cybersecurity and compliance requirements tied to federally funded research. The expanded computing resources will also support Morgan State's effort to receive Carnegie R1 research classification.
