Google Opens AI Tools for STEM Simulations and Document Review
Google is widening access to AI tools for classroom simulations, document review and geographic analysis, according to EdTech Innovation Hub. The company presented the tools at its Research@ event in Mountain View on October 14.
Teachers can apply through the Google for Education Pilot Program to test guided simulations for physics, chemistry, biology and math. The experiment uses generative interfaces to create activities matched to a curriculum, with an initial library of more than 30 activities reviewed by teachers.
Google is also opening Deep Review, a system that checks complex documents for logical consistency and factual grounding. An early version was used on more than 16,000 papers submitted to computer science conferences, and the public tool can also review legal agreements and financial reports.
New Earth AI capabilities are available through early access for geographic analysis, risk assessment and scenario forecasting. Google also opened Groundsource, a dataset containing more than 2.6 million flood events that was used to train a model for predicting urban flash floods up to 24 hours in advance.
