Microsoft Brings Claude Processing Into EU Data Boundary by End of 2026

Nov 5, 2026
Microsoft will process Claude requests from Copilot users in the EU and EFTA within its EU Data Boundary by the end of 2026.

Microsoft will bring processing for Anthropic Claude models in Copilot into its EU Data Boundary by the end of 2026, the company announced in a blog post. Organizations in the European Union and European Free Trade Association will then be able to use Claude across Copilot services, including Copilot Cowork, with data stored and processed within the boundary.

Existing customers using Claude in Copilot will not need to take action. Processing will move into the EU Data Boundary automatically when the change becomes available.

Claude access remains disabled by default for organizations in the EU and EFTA that have not enabled it. Administrators can activate the models for all users or selected users and groups through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Microsoft says customer data handled by Claude in Copilot is not used to train foundation models.
