AMD falls 13% as AI regulation concerns hit chip stocks
Shares in AMD fell 13% to $424.36 in morning trading on November 5, while NVIDIA dropped 7% to $186.81, according to 24/7 Wall St. Intel declined 8%, and Broadcom fell 6%.
The declines extended the previous day's selloff as investors priced in tighter AI rules after Democrats won both chambers of Congress in the November 3 midterms. Representative Yassamin Ansari called on November 4 for a pause on advanced AI development until adequate regulations are in place, and a Colorado legislative staff report noted that states have enacted legislation and executive orders on data centers over energy use, water and electricity costs.
AMD's decline followed record third quarter results. Revenue rose 44.7% from a year earlier to $13.38 billion, while Data Center revenue increased 97% to $8.55 billion. AMD expects about $17 billion in fourth quarter revenue and more than 80% revenue growth in 2027.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
