Jordan Launches National AI Literacy Initiative with Amira Learning
The Ministry of Education of Jordan has partnered with Amira Learning, Carter Education Group, and NorthStar Education to introduce a nationwide AI literacy program, announced in a press release. The initiative aims to enhance reading fluency, comprehension, and engagement among Jordanian students while supporting the country's English language development goals.
The program will begin in primary schools across Jordan, focusing on grades 4 and 7. Teachers will receive professional training before a 12-week instruction period, during which students will participate in several one-on-one AI-assisted reading sessions each week. Data collected from Amira’s dashboards and assessments will inform a year-long national rollout.
Amira Learning’s AI tutor listens to students read aloud, provides personalized feedback, and gives teachers actionable insights into student progress. The system will be localized for Arabic-speaking teachers and parents, with regionally relevant reading materials. Up to 800,000 students could benefit from the nationwide expansion.
According to the Ministry of Education, the initiative combines evidence-based instruction with artificial intelligence to deliver targeted learning support. Amira Learning’s CEO Mark Angel said the collaboration aims to accelerate literacy growth and create a scalable model for improving reading outcomes across Jordan.
