Harbinger has acquired autonomous driving company Phantom AI and entered into a licensing agreement with ZF Group to integrate Phantom AI’s computer vision technology into passenger and medium-duty vehicles.

Harbinger has acquired autonomous driving company Phantom AI and signed a licensing agreement with ZF Group, announced in a press release. The deal will allow ZF to use Phantom AI’s computer vision technology in its passenger car advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) while Harbinger integrates the same technology into its medium-duty electric and hybrid vehicles.

The acquisition was completed in November 2025, with Phantom AI’s 30-person team continuing operations in Mountain View, California. Harbinger plans to include features such as emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping in its vehicles starting in 2026.

Under the licensing agreement, ZF will incorporate Phantom AI’s computer vision into its passenger car ADAS products, expanding its offerings in safety and automation. The collaboration also creates a new software services revenue stream for Harbinger, marking its expansion beyond commercial vehicles.

Phantom AI was founded by former engineers from Tesla and Hyundai, focusing on cost-effective Level 2 autonomous driving solutions. The company’s technology combines computer vision, sensor fusion, and control systems to enhance vehicle safety and driver assistance capabilities.
