HCLTech Expands AI Partnership with Guardian Life Insurance Company

HCLTech and Guardian Life Insurance Company signed a new seven-year agreement expanding their partnership to modernize Guardian's technology and operations using AI, and HCLTech will acquire Guardian India as part of the deal.

HCLTech and Guardian Life Insurance Company have signed a new seven-year agreement to expand their collaboration on AI powered modernization across technology and operations, announced in a press release. The partnership builds on their existing relationship and aims to increase efficiency and scalability within Guardian’s business processes.

Under the agreement, HCLTech will implement its AI Service Transformation Platform, AI Force, to deploy agentic capabilities that align with Guardian’s operating model. This initiative targets faster delivery, lower costs, and streamlined modernization across Guardian’s group benefits, individual protection, retirement, and wealth management services.

As part of the expanded deal, HCLTech will acquire Guardian India, a capability center employing about 2,000 people in technology, operations, and shared services. These employees will join HCLTech through a new Strategic Business Unit dedicated to supporting Guardian’s technology and operational transformation. The unit will be led by Karunakaran Azhisur, formerly the head of Guardian India.
