Anthropic Makes Claude for Teachers Free for US K-12 Schools and Districts
Anthropic has made Claude for Teachers available to U.S. K-12 schools and districts as a free Enterprise offering. Qualifying organizations that sign up by June 30, 2027 get one year of free access.
The school or district version lets administrators place educators and staff in one centrally managed organization under K-12 terms. It includes single sign on, role based access controls, domain claiming, staff account management, policy settings, and adoption visibility across schools. Usage limits match individual Claude for Teachers accounts, and overage billing is off by default unless administrators opt in.
To start, an administrator verifies the school or district, accepts the K-12 terms and student data privacy agreement, connects the email domain, and sets up single sign on. Teachers already verified on the school or district domain can be moved into the centrally managed account through domain capture. Claude for Teachers data is not used for model training, and student information is covered by a K-12 Data Processing Agreement.
Anthropic also added education resources for the new school year. These include lesson preparation and check for understanding teaching skills developed with Learning Commons, accessibility updates to materials for students, updates to lesson planning, and revised Claude for K-12 Academy content for teachers, coaches, and district teams.
