Innoviz LiDAR to Power Mobileye’s Robotaxi Fleet Launching in 2027
Innoviz Technologies will supply its LiDAR sensors for Mobileye's new robotaxi service, announced in a press release. Mobileye plans to launch its vertically integrated robotaxi business in a major U.S. city in 2027, beginning with about 100 vehicles and scaling to 17,000 over the following five years.
Each vehicle in the Mobileye Drive platform will include nine InnovizTwo LiDAR units, providing 360-degree coverage alongside Mobileye’s imaging radars and high-resolution cameras. The configuration represents a potential demand of more than 150,000 LiDAR units for Innoviz.
The Mobileye Drive system is designed as a standalone autonomous driving platform that supports robotaxi, ride-pooling, goods delivery, and public transport operations. Mobileye will operate the service using its Moovit mobility platform for fleet management and teleoperation support.
Innoviz stated that its LiDAR sensors will form the 3D sensing layer enabling safe operation across complex urban environments.
