Elon Musk called for leading US and Chinese AI companies to test each other's models before public release, according to CNBC. He named SpaceX AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and several leading Chinese companies as possible participants.

Under the proposal, competing companies would run a test harness on each model and report safety concerns. Musk said external reviews could find problems that a company's own evaluations miss.

Musk acknowledged that rival AI labs have not agreed to the proposal. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has separately proposed giving embedded third party evaluators access to verify safety practices.
