Compal Electronics unveiled a biotechnology platform that combines quantum computing and artificial intelligence at COMPUTEX 2026, highlighting collaborations with universities and pharmaceutical firms for drug discovery and manufacturing.

Compal Electronics announced in a press release its integration of quantum technology and artificial intelligence to build a biotechnology platform showcased at COMPUTEX 2026. The company highlighted partnerships with academic institutions and pharmaceutical firms to accelerate innovation in drug discovery and manufacturing.

At the event, Compal presented its hybrid quantum AI system, CGA-QX Docking, developed with NVIDIA and academic partners. The system combines NVIDIA CUDA-Q quantum simulations with GPU accelerated simulated annealing to speed up molecular docking by up to 3,500 times compared to traditional methods. The platform uses 30-qubit quantum optimization to improve binding energy predictions, particularly for diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Compal also collaborated with the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to create a generative AI model for antibody drug development. The workflow integrates NVIDIA Boltz-2 NIM for structure prediction and a fine-tuned ESM-2 protein language model for specificity analysis, with experimental validation to ensure biological accuracy.

In partnership with Kaohsiung Medical University, Compal developed a system that combines simulated quantum annealing with GPU acceleration to optimize molecular docking configurations. The company’s affiliate, Vernus AI, is applying these technologies through its ReAIX platform, which merges AI, quantum computing, and physical simulation to optimize manufacturing processes for pharmaceuticals. The platform has been used in projects with firms including Orient EuroPharma to reduce research cycles and production costs.
