BRIGHT Receives €3.7 Million for AI Cancer Microscope
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) researcher Lorenzo Albertazzi received a €3.7 million grant from the European Innovation Council for the BRIGHT project, as detailed in a university announcement. The project will develop an automated microscope that combines AI, advanced imaging, and clinical analysis.
BRIGHT plans to analyze patient biopsies with single molecule sensitivity without specialist intervention. As a proof of concept, the system will examine biopsies from patients with B cell lymphoma, create biomarker profiles, and compare them with treatment response.
TU/e coordinates the project with Radboudumc, the University of Lisbon, the University of Copenhagen, Vilnius University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Ultimeyes. The project was one of 43 proposals selected from 2,104 submissions to the EIC Pathfinder program.
