Abacus.AI Releases Three Smaug Open Weight Models

Abacus.AI released Smaug Agentic, Smaug Flash and Smaug Mini for enterprise AI agents. The models can run in a company cloud VPC and are available through Hugging Face.

Abacus.AI announced in a press release three open weight language models called Smaug Agentic, Smaug Flash and Smaug Mini. The company says its fine tuning method improves performance in long running agent loops by 15% to 20% over the models on which they are based, without raising costs.

Smaug Agentic is a 2 trillion parameter model based on Kimi K3 and designed for complex coding loops. Smaug Flash is based on DeepSeek Flash and supports personal agents connected to WhatsApp, Telegram and Slack. Smaug Mini is a 27 billion parameter model for multimodal tasks, smaller reasoning workloads, enterprise chatbots and further training with company data.

Companies can host the models in their own cloud VPC to retain control over data and model hosting. The models are also available to download from Hugging Face.
